Exodus 33:
“No blessing for those who are hard-hearted, but there is grace in those who are near”

Introduction: Analysing people’s choices through the stories of two children
I. God's promises require obedience to obtain (Exodus 33:1-6)
1. God has promised, but man needs to respond (v1)
2. God does not walk with hard-hearted people (v2-6)
God's promises are real and unchanging, but people must respond with obedience to truly receive the blessings He has given. If we only hear the promises but are unwilling to act, or if we are rebellious and hard-hearted and refuse to obey, we may eventually miss God's presence, even if there is still His grace. God is willing to lead His people into the promised land, but He will not force hard-hearted people to go with Him. The real blessing is not only to obtain the land given by God, but also to experience God's presence and guidance in obedience.
II. God’s presence awaits people to approach Him (Exodus 33:7-11)
1. God is willing to have fellowship with people (v7)
2. God is willing to be friends with us (v8-11)
God's presence is not forced but is prepared for those who desire Him and actively seek Him. Moses approached God in the tabernacle and became a friend who communicated with God face to face, while the people watched from afar and did not dare to approach. Are we like this today? We only want to watch God's actions from afar, but are unwilling to truly enter His presence? God is willing to approach people, but the key lies in whether we are willing to take the initiative to approach Him, stop what we are doing, come before Him, listen to His will, and establish a real relationship with Him.
III. God’s glory requires faith in prayer (Exodus 33:12-23)
1. God’s presence brings rest (v12-14)
2. God is willing to go with us, and His grace is abundant (v15-17)
3. God’s glory is willing to show to people (v18-23)
God's glory, presence, and grace are all prepared for those who long for Him and seek Him courageously. Moses was not only satisfied with God's guidance but also longed to experience God's glory personally. Do we have such a desire today? Or are we just satisfied with superficial faith? God's presence brings true rest. He is willing to walk with us and give us abundant grace, but He also expects us to call on Him in faith and desire to know Him more deeply. When we are willing to put ourselves aside and trust Him completely, God is willing to appear to us so that we can get real satisfaction and strength in His glory.
Conclusion: Those who surrender experience the deepest grace of God
The problem is not that God does not give, but that we are unwilling to let go. Many times, we want God's grace but are unwilling to surrender ourselves. The real blessing does not depend on how much God gives, but on how close we are willing to be.
