Don’t Let God’s Love Go to Waste!

Introduction: The feeling of disappointed hope I. Too impatient and suspicious (Exodus 32:1)

1. Impatience, unable to hold back
2. Lack of trust, suspicious of everything
3. Thinking about oneself, acting recklessly

The Israelites waited for forty days, but did not see Moses coming back, so they began to panic. They were afraid and anxious, and felt that they were left behind. It turned out that their faith was only based on the Moses they saw, not on God's words.

So, they turned to Aaron, not to ask God, but directly asked to make a visible "idol" to replace God's guidance. This is not simple weakness, but a deviation of faith. They are unwilling to trust the invisible God but want an idol that can "control".

II. Being too hasty can lead to disaster (Exodus 32:2-6)

1. Not fulfilling responsibility, not daring to stop
2. Indulging others, not daring to refuse
3. Pushing responsibility, not daring to admit

Aaron should have been a spiritual leader who should have led the people to God. But he did not stand firm but obeyed the people's request and made idols.

Not only that, he also tried to "package" their sins. He did not directly say: "We want to worship other gods." Instead, he said: "This is Jehovah!" He even organized a "festival to worship Jehovah." He wanted to cover up his mistakes with the shell of religion, but ended up making the people fall into greater sin.

III. Trust brings out true love (Exodus 32:11-29)

1. Do not escape, dare to take responsibility
2. Have trust, dare to entrust
3. Speak bravely, dare to correct
4. Walk faithfully, dare to follow

Moses' trust in God made him willing to express and entrust his trust bravely. He did not complain about God from the perspective of the people but talked to God from the perspective of God. His intercession was not based on feelings, but was based on God's attributes, God's promises, and God's covenant. He knew that God was loving and faithful and would never go against Himself.

At the foot of the mountain, the people made a golden calf out of impatience, but Joshua was completely different from them. He was not as impatient as the people, nor did he fall into panic. He was not clear about Moses' situation and did not know what would happen next, but because of his trust, he chose to wait patiently.

IV. God’s deep affection for us (Exodus 32:7-10, 30-35)

1. God knows but is patient
2. God is angry but merciful

God is all-knowing. He was not surprised to discover the people's rebellion after the incident with the golden calf. He already knew their weakness, hardness, and unfaithfulness. But even so, He still led them out of Egypt, performed miracles to protect them, and gave them laws to guide them.

However, in just a few days, the people rebelled against God and returned to the idols of Egypt. This behavior is like a child who has just been rescued from danger by his parents but then turns around and goes to another false parent, completely ignoring the One who truly loves them. How painful this makes God's heart!

Conclusion: Don’t let God’s love go to waste.
