Introduction: Keeping the temperature and rise continuously

A dish that is cooked is not good if it is left too long to get cold. In the same way, our heart for the Lord should not cool down.

1. Serving God with one heart and one mind (V1-2)

At that time under Jeroboam II, Israel suddenly prospered militarily and economically. But the more prosperous the nation became, the more idolatry became prevalent.

The more a nation is blessed by God, the more it exalts people, the more it promotes religious pluralism, and the more fruitful it appears to be, the more altars are built; the more fertile the land, the more beautiful pillars are built, which are also condemned.

In the same way, when our careers begin to flourish, one always starts to get busy and tends to forget God and focus on the business. One ends up being preoccupied with serving God and even ends up putting God down first. We need to watch out!

2. Love of God will be blessed for all generations (V3-8)

The people of Israel made false vows to worship idols, which led to God's anger and eventually to plagues and punishments, and the people were in a state of fear and sorrow and shame. In the end the nation fell and was judged for not keeping the covenant of the Lord. When a nation has no king, it is a time when the people do as they please, and they are thinking that even if they had a king, what could he do for them?

God's covenant had been made clear to Israel, "5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me," (Ex 20:5-6).

God is a faithful and covenant-keeping God, and if we will repent, ask for God's forgiveness and turn to love Him, our future generations will be blessed.

3. God will save if you repent of your sins (V9-10)

The days of Gibeah refer to the rape and murder of the Levite's concubine by the bandits of Gibeah as recorded in the book of Shakespeare, which has not been done or seen since the Exodus of the Israelites from the land of Egypt until today, resulting in the extermination of almost all the tribe of Benjamin.

Furthermore, Gibeah was Saul's base, and every time Saul went out to war, or to hunt David, he returned to Gibeah; so Gibeah was a place where sin was often committed, and was a foreshadowing of Saul, because Saul represented himself as making his own decisions, deciding on his own sacrifices, deciding on his own offerings, deciding on his own methods, and thus being double-minded, and when we don't ask God, we are prone to sin.

Both of these things show that when man sins according to his own will, God will raise up the circumstances around him to attack us.

4. Planting righteousness and receive God's mercy (V11-15)

God told the people of Israel that there was a way out, and that was to seek the Lord. To turn back to God in three ways: (1) to cultivate the wilderness, that is, to get rid of the weeds in their lives; (2) to wait for God to come, to keep waiting on God and let Him reign; (3) to plant righteousness, that is, to do what is just and righteous.

When we do this, the seeds of God's righteousness are planted and God's love, justice and holiness will come.

Conclusion: Today is the day to start planting the seeds and to start seeking God!

Today is the day to seek God, when we decide to begin to follow God in our lives, we plant the seed of righteousness. God will be pleased with this planting and will enable us to reap the fullness of His love. Pray that God will lead us to plant that seed of righteousness and help us to live the life that God desires.
