God's Will from the Construction of the Tabernacle

The Morning Devotion Speaker: Ps Daniel

I. God invites people to participate in His work (25:1-9)

1. God wants voluntary offerings (V1-2)

V2 Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You can accept it as mine from anyone who is willing.

God does not force people to give but invites them to respond out of love and gratitude. Giving is not a “tax” but a response to God’s grace. God values a “willing” attitude, not a “grudging” action.

2. God’s house needs diverse supplies (V3-7)

God wants people to offer gold, silver, copper, coloured thread, fine linen, etc., which symbolize different spiritual meanings and also show that we can participate in His work in different ways. Today's church also needs people with various gifts to participate, whether it is money, talent or time, all can be offered to God. Our resources are all given by God, how should we use them?

3. God’s goal is to live with people (V8-9)

God’s intention is to live among us. He is a God who is close to people. Today, our hearts are God’s sanctuary. Are we ready for God to live in us?

II. The Ark of the Covenant shows grace first and truth later (25:10-22)

1. The Materials and Construction of the Ark of the Covenant (V10-15)

God commanded Moses to make the Ark of the Covenant out of durable and beautiful acacia wood, and to cover it with gold inside and out, and to specify the dimensions in detail, demonstrating His strict requirements for details. Similarly, our lives need to rely on God's wisdom and follow His perfect plan, rather than just putting things together at random.

2. The Ark of the Covenant holds the tablets of God’s law (V16)

The Ark of the Covenant holds the tablets of law given by God. This shows that the law is an important witness of the covenant between God and His people, but the Ark of the Covenant itself is not a container of the law, but a symbol of God’s presence.

In our life of faith, rules are necessary, but without grace as a foundation, faith can easily become formalistic and even a heavy burden.

3. The Mercy Seat Covers the Testimony (V17-22)

The lid of the Ark of the Covenant is called the mercy seat for the forgiveness of sins. It covers the Testimony, symbolizing that grace covers the law. God also promised, "I will meet you there" (V22), showing that God's presence is not based on accusation, but on grace!

The law sets the standard, but God's will is "grace first, then truth", hoping that we live out the truth in grace, rather than being bound by rules.

III. The Table of Showbread God Provides Everything (Exodus 25:23-30)

This passage talks about the table of showbread in the tabernacle, which not only symbolizes the provision of the Israelites, but also reveals God's will: He cares for us every day, provides us abundantly, and desires to establish an intimate relationship with us.

God is our provider, and as long as we trust in Him with all our hearts, we will get help. Looking to God for provision every day is our Christian lifestyle.

IV. The Golden Lampstand is God’s Illumination (25:31-39)

1. The golden lampstand is made of pure gold (V31-36)

The lampstand is made of a single piece of gold, symbolizing Christ as the light of the world. In the darkness, without the light of God, we are like blind men groping for the way; Christ illuminates the darkness, and we must also become the light of the world!

2. Light the lamps to keep shining (V37-39)

The golden lampstand has seven lamps, and the priests must keep the lamps burning, symbolizing the continuous illumination of God. God's light guides our path, and we need to keep drawing close to Him.

Conclusion: Are you willing to follow God's instructions? (V40)
Are we building our lives carefully according to God's instructions? Or are we just doing it casually? Today, God invites us to readjust our direction, follow His plan, and glorify Him in our lives!
