Matthew Chapter 26
Responding to the Kingdom of Heaven's Arrival with an Eternal

The Morning Devotion Speaker: Ps Stella
In Bethany, Mary anointed Jesus' head with an extremely expensive perfume. Her action and offering reflected her understanding of eternal value. She recognized that Jesus was the center of salvation. While the perfume was costly, the Lord was completely worthy.
Judas sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. In doing so, he also sold his own soul, showing that he replaced eternal hope with temporary gain.
Judas' actions remind us that when our focus is solely on the current life, we may miss God's eternal plan.
Summary: Mary’s offering is eternally commemorated, while Judas' betrayal results in eternal regret.
Jesus gave new meaning to the "Passover Feast." During the meal, He used the bread and the cup to symbolize His body and blood, establishing the new covenant. This was a declaration of His sacrifice for humanity's sins, showing that He is the true Passover Lamb, and that the eternal plan of redemption comes at the cost of sacrifice.
Jesus took His disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. Three times He prayed to God, saying, "Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will" (V. 39). This shows that Jesus responded to the Father's will with a heart of obedience, even at the cost of His life. This is the life of obedience.
When we face trials in life, let us trust in God’s good will, rather than acting according to our own plans.
Judas brought a crowd with swords and clubs to arrest Jesus. When Jesus was captured, the disciples scattered in fear (V56). This failure reveals the weakness of human nature.
At the same time, it shows that only God's grace can strengthen us from weakness.
During the Passover meal, Jesus told Peter that he would deny Him three times. However, Peter and the other disciples were confident that they would not. When Peter faced the test and denied Jesus three times, he realized his failure and wept in repentance. Yet, through Peter's repentance, Jesus later restored Peter’s mission, making him a faithful witness of the Kingdom of Heaven.
The arrival of the Kingdom of Heaven is a spiritual test that requires us to respond with an eternal perspective. Let us respond today by offering our lives to the eternal Lord!
