Psalm 26

Hope of walking in integrity and uprightness

Introduction:

When faced with false accusations and wrongful accusations from others, and in the midst of great inner pain and struggle, one can pray to God for redress of grievances, and receive great comfort and strength from Him!

1. Redress of grievances (V1-3)

David firmly believed that God would redress his grievances, and he relied firmly on the one true God. His trust was based on the knowledge of God, and he was convinced that the God he believed in was faithful. Therefore, when we are slandered and falsely accused, and our hearts are in pain and we are unable to defend ourselves, we come to God, cry out to Him, and rely on Him, believing that He will do justice for us, and that He will redress our grievances because of His faithful promises.

2. The Clear Evidence of Defense (V4-7)

David proves his integrity by the fact that he separates himself from sinners and identifies himself with the worshippers of God. He in no way identified with the evildoers and wicked. He did not sit with them or follow their schemes. He also offered thanksgiving and praise to the LORD God with a blameless conscience.

3. Protection in the sanctuary (V8-12)

The reason David turned his eyes to God and cried out earnestly in the midst of his distress was that he stood on level ground. That firm foundation is the faithfulness of the Lord God. In spite of the hardship, lack of understanding, and slander, he remained confident in praising God with joy in the house of God. Like David, we too should always come to God and praise Him with joy, knowing that He will care for us and deliver us.

Conclusion:

David's life of walking in integrity and uprightness enabled him to look to God for justice with certainty and confidence in spite of his difficulties.

May we all act with uprightness so that we may have peace in Christ in all our troubles!
